Recently redesigned by Coates Design , this inspiring single family house is situated in Green Lake, Seattle, WA. Description This was a remodel on a spec home that was already under construction, with the goal of customizing the existing plans to better match the owner’s needs. Our design team was tasked with alterations to the interior and adding exterior detailing, working closely with the homeowners and contractor to evaluate costs, feasibility of products, and detailing options for this project. One example of an alteration was replacing the two large sliding doors with bi-folding doors that open from the corner. This allows for more fluid access between the living room and outdoor living area. In addition, this outdoor area was outfitted with a built-in BBQ grill and bench, as well as a custom covered awning allowing this important living space to be used in any weather. Located in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, this amazing green residence has been designed in 2018 by Vo Trong Nghia Architects . Description The site is located in a new residential area of Ho Chi Minh City, with a park on its northern side. It is a rare opportunity to get a site in Ho Chi Minh city, which is adjacent to a green public space. We therefore focused on designing a house which becomes an extension of its environment by integrating the green of the park into the interior space of the house. A large void was created by cutting the volume through the three floors, in the diagonal direction of the section. On the ground floor, the void serves as living room, open to the park; on the top floor as a green covered family room. The façade surrounding the void is covered with ivy plants. Louvres provide shadow on the top floor. The void incorporates both circulation elements and natural elements like plants and trees, providing the private rooms with additional natural lig
