Cruz House by Ruben Muedra Estudio de Arquitectura

This amazing modern home located in Valencia, Spain, has been designed in 2019 by Ruben Muedra Estudio de Arquitectura . Description A former seminary and residence for the Legionnaires of Christ with a natural setting of great interest. A residential area with low population density and where the Mediterranean forest dominates the terrain. This is our project´s point of departure. From the very beginning, this has been considered a new project since only one section of the original structure was maintained in the new construction which has completely remodeled all other spaces, including the exterior areas. The house is comprised of one powerful white block with various levels, each corresponding to a specific function. Although the large surface area of the plot ensures a vast separation between this building and its adjacent properties, each exterior side of the block also carries out a function specific to its position on the land plot. The longitudinal sides to th

Viewpoint House by Jim Caumeron Design

This amazing two-story residence located in Quezon City, Philippines, has been designed in 2020 by Jim Caumeron Design . Description Articulated by camera lens-like extrusions, Jim Caumeron Design has realized ‘viewpoint house’ in a dense subdivision of Quezon city in the Philippines. Organized to highlight views of the outdoors, the dwelling features a warm interior core sheltered by a white concrete ‘hood’ with trapezoidal niches. Jim Caumeron created an L-shaped floor plan to fit the L-shaped site, and the client’s extensive 4306 ft2 (400 m2) space requirements. The east and rear sides of the property have no views as they’re blocked by a fenced wall owned by neighbors. The west-facing aspect, on the other hand, benefits from the afternoon sun. It also fronts the street access and a small community park. the design highlights the view of the park by a huge picture window that’s placed at the corner of the house. Raised above standing height to ensure privacy, the wind

Cottage on the Point by Paul Bernier Architecte

Recently redesigned by Paul Bernier Architecte , this lovely cottage is located in Lanaudière, Canada. Description The clients owned this log cabin which has been in the family for 40 years. It is anchored on a rocky point which juts out into the lake. The project to be carried out was to completely renovate this cottage and expand it to make it an open, fluid, and bright space that takes advantage of the beautiful views overlooking the lake. The proximity to the shore led the architects to plan the extension on top rather than on the sides. Only the screened porch was added at ground level so there was a challenge there. How to add a floor to this typical small log cabin with its sloping roof without denaturing it and losing its trace? The solution was not to pretend that this addition had always been there. The project had to allow the old and the new to be clearly visible. Contrast and continuity This theme is important in the design of this house. It is the me
