Located in Ožkiniai, Lithuania, this lovely retreat has been designed in 2020 by Devyni Architektai . Description This homestead is created for an individual, who wants to escape from the city, to find his inner self. Here it is possible to take a moment to connect and listen to the nature, change your personal needs. In the large area surrounded by forest and lakes, the buildings are spread across the existing terrain without harming it. Main house, outdoor kitchen, grandparents house, outbuilding and sauna are connected with curved paths, which form a local network for living. This formation of buildings gives the opportunity to live outdoors as much as indoors. The building process was slow, thinking about each detail, without any hurry and with respect to surrounding nature. Natural larch facades and roof shingles began to change the shade during the construction process, thus further merging into the natural context. Even before the interiors were done, all the

GB House by Built Architecture

This inspiring apartment located in Barcelona, Spain, has been designed in 2019 by Built Architecture . Description Although the project is located in a building without much heritage interest, the apartment is on a fourth floor enjoying privileged views over the Sant Antoni Market. Undoubtedly its privileged location in the center of the city, right on the border between Ciutat Vella and the Eixample, in front of one of the masterpieces of the late S-XIX, is the essential ingredient on which all the decisions of the proposal revolve. Built in 1882 by Antoni Rovira y Trías and recently restored by the studio Ravetllat Ribas Arquitectes in 2007, the Sant Antoni market is the first market outside the walls of Barcelona. Built on the remains of the old bastion of the city gate that gives it its name, located at the point indicated by Cerda himself, reverses the usual pattern of chamfered squares in its full-void scheme giving rise to a unique building with a cross floor plan,

Casa B by Architrend Architecture

This concrete single family house located in St. Julian’s, Malta, has been redesigned in 2019 by Architrend Architecture . Description We travelled from Sicily to Malta after being commissioned by a young couple who wanted us to design a single-family house to replace an existing one. We designed theirs using four elements: light, water, glass and exposed concrete. Situated in La Valletta, this design nestles between terraced houses of no great architectural quality, maintaining their height and alignment but differing in transparency, composition and materials to bring hitherto unseen dynamism to the frontage. Like the adjacent houses, access is via a mezzanine floor accessed from an external staircase. From the road, the house is characterized by an almost wholly glazed elevation, and framed by an exposed cement structure. We fought hard to maintain our choice of exposed cement, because we considered it to be vital to preserve the project’s identity. We couldn’t find a c

AK House by Pitsou Kedem Architects

Designed in 2020 by Pitsou Kedem Architects , this concrete two-story house is situated in Israel. Description This corner house is located at the meeting point of a pair of roads where it reveals an intriguing entrance façade. The flat roof extends the full length of the structure and folds into side walls to seamlessly enwrap the interior space. When looking at the house from the side, the walls confuse the eye, making it impossible to perceive where they begin and end and resulting in a unified and continuous façade. This structural uniformity is further enhanced by the uniform materiality of the roof and the solid walls, which are constructed of exposed concrete. Vast expanses of wood-clad and glass walls stretch between the concrete walls, separating the interior and the exterior, and allowing easy movement into and out of the house. It is a floor plan that facilitates a natural flow of air and light to all of the house’s interior spaces, private and public alike
