1307-VDB is a modern house located in lier, Belgium, designed in 2017 by Studio Ambacht . Description The house is a tribute to the great designers such as le Corbusier, Kahn and Scarpa. On the outskirts of the historic village Lier in Belgium, studio Ambacht designed this single-family house as a ‘gesamtkunstwerk’ in close cooperation with the owners, contractor and local craftsmen. Open House by Cox Architects

Open House is a stunning redesign of a 1920s detached house by Cox Architects , located in London, United Kingdom. Description Our clients wanted a striking makeover for this 1920s detached house that would also meet the long term care requirements of their youngest daughter, Poppy. We were asked to retain the traditional appearance at the front but given free rein at the back. A big open family space was a must, as were the wheelchair lift, hoists and accessbile bathrooms. Two bedrooms had to be added (one for Poppy’s live-in carer) and of course it all had to be step free , from street to sun-deck! The completed project has added more than 114 sq m of internal floor area (1225 sq ft) with the open plan family space acounting for almost 100 sq m of this (1000 sq ft). Tofino Beach House by Olson Kundig

Tofino beach house is a 2,500-square-foot home located in Tofino, Canada, designed in 2016 by Olson Kundig . Description Nestled in a weather-beaten forest, this 2,500-square-foot beach house creates a connection between the drama of the nearby ocean and the sense of sanctuary provided by the trees. Composed primarily of one large room, the house is light-filled on the south side facing the ocean, and insular and protected on the other side. Glass walls open the living area to panoramic views of forest and ocean, while two fireplaces on either end anchor the space and provide a feeling of refuge. Cantilevering the house from its base provides space for ferns and beach salal to grow underneath the glass flooring that runs the perimeter of the main room, giving the sense of floating above the forest floor. The warm, natural tones of the interior take inspiration from Tofino’s coastal forest, and are punctuated by pieces from the owner’s contemporary art collection. Artwor...
