MeMo House by Bam! Arquitectura

Designed in 2016 by Bam! Arquitectura , this sustainable single family house is located in San Isidro, in the northern part of the province of Buenos Aires, Argentina. Description The MeMo house, which was built on a plot in San Isidro, in the northern part of the province of Buenos Aires, Argentina, was conceived on the premise of a client who is passionate about landscaping and has a strong conviction regarding sustainability and the environment. The premise was to develop a project in a plot between infill buildings while reducing to the maximum extent possible the loss of green spaces due to the construction of the house. With such a concept in mind, we at BAM! decided to work on architecture and landscape simultaneously. The square meters of the building footprint turn into a three-dimensional garden which connects all the architectural floors. The morphological design is born as a result of the commitment not to waste square meters of vegetal soil, on the one ha

13Chenar Residential by Mado Architects

This inspiring apartment building designed by Mado Architects is located in Tehran, Iran. Description The 13Chenar residential project referred to us when the construction process was suspended due to the client dissatisfaction. The building was designed by bubble deck system which liberates the interior from structural elements and moved them toward the edges of slabs. They just finished the fourth slab when they asked us to revise their project. We refused to design just a simple facade and proposed a serious set of changes both in architecture and facade. Because of the imposed structural system limitation in making hollows, we decided to focus on the edges of the building and define a hierarchy from outside in. In order to do so, we designed all the units requirements in the space between the core and the shear walls and considered the legal console area as a different kind of space. So we applied our layer concept to this added area. The layer concept consists of curtai

Big Barn by Faulkner Architects

Located in Glen Ellen, California, this inspiring barn house has been designed by Faulkner Architects . Description North of San Francisco, in Glen Ellen, a less populated part of the Napa wine country, the culture has been based on agriculture and was named for an original winery. Jack London made this his permanent home here in the early 1900s. Drawn by the land, London believed in the redemptive qualities of rural life. Less than an hour from the city, rolling hills covered with groves of oak trees surround the downtown. The strong agricultural history has affected the built environment here with many examples of barn like houses that are confusingly morphed between the two vocabularies. On the existing footprint of a 1950s ranch house, this family getaway evolved in response to a request for a retreat from their urban lifestyle. The atmosphere of a tack barn renovated into a bunk house on site inspired thoughts of a larger barn like typology for this main house of 3,900

River’s House 1 by Cushing Terrell

Designed by Cushing Terrell , this amazing lake house is located in Missoula, Montana, United States. Description The River’s End Houses (also see River’s End House #2) started simply with the goal of bringing new life to a single existing home on the shores of Montana’s Flathead Lake. Despite miles of largely natural shores, land is at a premium at the site of the River’s End Houses, located at the mouth of the Swan River in the picturesque community of Bigfork. After a preliminary feasibility study determined an existing structure was no longer viable, Cushing Terrell worked with the client to create value by proposing two homes where there was once one. Lakefront living is at the heart of both River’s End Houses. Indoor and outdoor spaces all orient to the lake. Clean lines and complimentary materials characterize both homes. Simple and elegant, the transitional and efficient interior spaces leave the natural setting immediately out of their windows to do the talking. F
