Black Perch by Vastu Shilpa Consultants

Black Perch is the extension and refurbishment of an existing, 40 year old bungalow located in Ahmedabad, India. Description Black Perch is the extension and refurbishment of an existing, 40 year old bungalow, located in a tight urban fabric, using most of the permissible ground cover before the extension was added. As no other space was available, the extension is placed on top of the existing, split level building. It adds a large living room with a kitchenette and a study cum guest room to the top of the house. All spaces overlook a large open to sky courtyard, which steps down the existing sloping roof. Alien-like this clean, black cube is perching on top of the old structure, as if landed from the sky, pushing on all sides up to the margin line, cantilevering far over the entrance side of the old house. Apartment at Sea by Michael K Chen Architecture

Michael K. Chen Architecture has completed the interior architecture and design of a 600-square-foot luxury apartment aboard a residential yacht. Description Drawing on Le Corbusier’s interest in streamlined, mid-20th century steamship design and MKCA’s own expertise in creating compact, multifunctional spaces in contemporary urban environments, the apartment is simultaneously adaptable, efficient, and strikingly elegant. Playfully dubbed by MKCA as a pied-à-mer, the residence serves as a holiday home for a couple and their grown children, transforming seamlessly from a spacious one-bedroom to a two-bedroom apartment through tables and beds that fold away and unfurl as necessary. As a jumping off point for the project, MKCA looked to modernist architecture’s fascination with nautical design, which optimized for small-scale living, modular organization, and efficiency. In particular, Le Corbusier’s belief that a home should be regarded as a “machine for living,” as well

S House by Parasite Studio

This inspiring modern home located in Timișoara, Romania, has been designed in 2020 by Parasite Studio . Description The home is often a simple box that is simply and naturally inhabited. This is an act that involves two seemingly contradictory but indispensable hypostases: to be inside, to be outside or rather, to be neither outside nor inside. In the house, however, there are thresholds that mark the passage from onespace to another, there are passages that facilitate or limit the access, features like different materials, light that falls differently, shadows, details. All these features give quality and particularity to the place. The living-room located on the ground floor, runs linearly from the access, open and bright. Each space of the house is marked by the materiality of the ceiling. The spaces are open to each other, remaining uncompartmented. In a succession of the interior route, with the access being the strating point, there is the kitchen, the dining plac
