Courtyard DADU by Robert Hutchison Architecture

Courtyard DADU is a modern house redesigned in 2020 by Robert Hutchison Architecture located in Seattle, Washington. Description Building upon our Alley House #1, this DADU (Detached Accessory Dwelling Unit) is oriented around a north-facing courtyard to provide privacy from the street as well as a quiet exterior space. Providing protection and a sound barrier from the nearby freeway located one block away was a key directive driving the design. Large window apertures in the south facade draw southern daylight into the living room, kitchen, and courtyard throughout the day. Villa Aqua Marine by Mykarch

Villa Aqua Marine is situated in the south-west side of Mykonos in one of the most privileged areas in the island, namely Pouli. It has a spectacular view of the endless Aegean blue along with the ancient island of Delos and Rhenia and the magical colours of the sunset. Description The concept was to create a luxurious Mykonian style villa that would completely fold onto the deep blue of the Aegean Sea she was facing. The result is an impressive game of volumes between Cycladic style and modern lines, sublimated by a meticulous lighting study and materials choice. The traditional Cycladic architecture mixed harmonically with the modern lines characterizes this villa. Minimalistic interior design, wooden details and unique artifacts compose a high standard accommodation. The oak solid wood flooring, the chestnut wooden ceiling, the organic cement screed floors, the wooden details and the warm lighting gives a sense of luxury but rustic style inspired by the island of

NCAVED by Mold Architects

NCAVED is a unique residence located in Agios Sostis, Greece, designed in 2020 by Mold Architects . Description NCaved is located on a small secluded rocky cove seemingly hovering just above sea level. The need to create a protected shelter, at a location of disarming view, but openly exposed to strong north winds, led us to the decision to drill the slope, instead of arranging a set of spaces in line at ground level. We applied a rectangular grid to the slope to produce a three-dimensional “chessboard” of solids and voids. This strict geometry is discontinued with the rotation of the last axis of the grid, which provides the living area with ampler view. Shifting the axis intensifies the sense of perspective significantly, and thus the imprint of the residence appears minimized at the conceptual end of the ascent. Longitudinal walls of dry stone create the vertical borders, which lead the visitor’s gaze to the horizon line. In contrast to the sturdy stone walls,
