This 2,000 square foot, full floor gut renovation turned a pre-war apartment into a clean modern residence for a family of three, while preserving its prewar features, such large generous rooms, tall baseboards and ceiling beams. Description The entry foyer becomes a central node that both separates and connects the dining room, living room, and bedroom areas through a series of large walnut open door frames, creating an airy, free-flowing layout. A small bookcase slot provides a visual connection between the dining and living rooms. The floor-to-ceiling bookshelves along the living room wall accommodate the owners’ vast library in a clean, functional, and modern way. The bathrooms are new and modern while keeping some pre-war details such as the mosaic floors and subway tile walls. Additional design elements including, energy-efficient amenities, high-end finishes and the dark oak flooring that extends throughout the apartment create a home that is at once contemporary...

The restaurant pizzeria Oi Marì designed in 2018 by Mancastudio is located in the heart of Matera in Italy. It is divided into different environments dug into the limestone, each with a different shape due to conformation of the cave created by man over the centuries. Description Originally, new spaces within the cave were created through subtraction, adding to the existing living spaces by removing material from the mother block of calcarenite rock. We like to think that those who created the so-called Sassi rather than add, subtracted matter to achieve a goal. Also, from this assumption comes the intention of our and our client’s project. Oi Marì was born in 1999 thanks to its young owners who are Materan and Neapolitan. They were enthusiastic about wanting to introduce to Matera the Neapolitan culinary tradition. This modern two-story villa located in Nakhon Si Thammarat, Thailand, has been designed in 2018 by Flat12x . Description by Flat12x Modern house that can be sustainable in tropical climate of Thailand’s countryside. ANAVILLA is the house of the fisherman family which is designed as the architectural portrait for the household that have been the main pillar of fishing industry in Thailand for three generations. The house is newly built in an extensive piece of empty land adjacent to the old parent house in order to complete the family privately owned village. The project is situated in the South of Thailand where 80 percent of the weather is rain. Despite the fact that the owner wants to build a modern house, the two storey glass house is well covered by cantilevered roofing, giving the house sufficient rain sheltering and sun shading.
