About Forestis
Introducing FORESTIS: South Tyrol’s Enchanting Refuge
Asaggio unveils FORESTIS, a serene haven in South Tyrol boasting 62 luxurious suites and rooms. The project grandly includes the expansive FORESTIS Spa, situated 1,800 meters (5,906 feet) high on Plose mountain, just above Brixen. This sublime retreat nestles in a peaceful, energy-rich locale, standing eye to eye with the majestic Dolomites, a UNESCO World Natural Heritage Site. The unique design approach places nature at the heart of the project, offering unfiltered views of the Dolomites.
Nature-First Design and Architecture
The project’s architects ensured a respectful treatment of the landscape, constructing three tree-inspired towers through a sleek, linear architectural language. Equally respectful, the connecting corridors and areas, including the restaurant and spa, subtly nestle underground.
Maintaining Historical Echoes in a Contemporary Concept
FORESTIS, the original healing place’s century-old main building, inspires the design ethos. Each room thoughtfully faces the sun, reflecting the vital roles of four causal elements—spring water, air, sun, and climate—in interior design and architecture.
Embracing Natural Materials in Design
Four natural materials find prominent use in symbolizing these elements. Stone, a primary material, invites the Dolomites into the building through a mineral surface coating. Transparent glass symbolizes superior air quality.
Immersive Experience in the Heart of the Forest
Guests find themselves nestled amidst a forest, at eye level with the stunning Dolomites, a UNESCO World Natural Heritage site. As the sun radiates strength and warmth, the use of naturally warm fabrics provides a comforting ambiance. Untreated spruce graces the suite walls and ceilings.
Preserving Historical Elements
In the preserved building, echoing a grand manor house, changes to elements like coffered ceilings and windows were prohibited. The untouched wood facade encapsulates the building’s history, further enriching the FORESTIS experience.
