Greenhills Villa by Area-17

This spacious luxury villa located in Shanghai, China, has been recently designed by Area-17 Architecture and Interiors . Description Inside Greenhills Villa, a balanced mix of classical and modern style effortlessly brings to life a feeling of old European sophistication, made of refined details and precious materials. In a space of 600 square meters spread over 4 floors, Area-17 has designed a residence that is truly a “home” for the family who lives in it, where representative spaces alternate with spaces for the family following the common thread of an airy central staircase that connects the different levels with their designated functions. The double-height lounge on the main floor is illuminated by a cascade of light that enters through 6-meter-high windows. A few carefully selected furniture items fill the environment with their fine-tuned shapes and textures. House in Ramat-Hasharon by Levin Packer Architects

Located in Ramat Hasharon, Israel, this concrete two-story residence has been recently designed by Levin Packer Architects . Description The lot of the house is situated along a street of 4-6 floor residential buildings and a public square in the city of Ramat Hasharon, Israel. In the center of the square sits a beautiful park. The L shape of the house turns its back to the disadvantages of the lot (a ramp to a public parking on one side and an existing residential buildings) and embraces the large open public garden on the west. The L shape also creates a tribute to the curved road of the square where the house sits. The house’s fence is made of architectural concrete and black metal (recalling the house materials) and follows the street’s curve until a break was done to emphasize the entrance to the house. Above the fence, the first floor of the house hovers on the flourishing green of the garden. At the entrance the visitor is welcomed by a ramp, which creates a con

Toorak House by Melanie Beynon Ad

Located in Melbourne, Australia, this mid-century residence spanning two family generations has been given a contemporary transformation reflecting the family’s growth and aspirations for their home. Description The interior architecture was meticulously re-planned to accommodate the family’s living requirements. Our layout focuses on an open kitchen, intimate living spaces, two bathrooms and a central mud room. The new kitchen is the heart of the home, bathed in natural light with additional skylights created. The communal island bench is softened by handcrafted timber detailing, topped with functional Corian working surfaces. The warmth of these key living spaces was elevated by the original Tasmanian Oak flooring and new timber-framed openings that capture panoramic garden views. Achieving two bathrooms with free-standing baths and a separate powder room was well considered in order to fit into the existing footprint. The balance of hand-crafted tiles and refined deta

House Mesh by Caramel Architekten

Designed in 2020 by Caramel Architekten , this original single family house is located in Linz, Austria. Description The main aim of the design and the client’s request was a future-oriented handling of materials and a building that was integrated into the environment. A generous green roof as a cut-out and folded landscape forms the largest space-forming element of the house. The lightweight timber construction with a ventilated metal facade and large glass elements form the remaining outer skin surfaces. The intersection of the massive terrace plateau with the edge of the terrain forms only a partial adaptation to the topography, which is why the building stands out from the terrain on the north / west side. The vegetation layer removed by the excavation was returned to the landscape on the roof. The heart of the house is the five meter high, ground floor living room, from which all rooms, the garden and the terrace plateau with the pool are accessible. As a structur

Ol Be-Al by FMD Architects

Located in Melbourne, Australia, this amazing brick home has been designed in 2017 by FMD Architects . Description ‘Old Be-al’ is the loving nick-name given to the beautifully old, gnarled Mallee river redgum at the rear of this classic, single story brick veneer home from the inter-war period in Melbourne’s inner-east. Underpinning our design notions and considerations for this home were two instinctual ideas: that of our client’s fondness for ‘Old Be-al’ and associated desire for an enhanced connection between the house and the old-growth eucalypt landscape; and our own determined appreciation for the house’s original brickwork, something we hoped to celebrate and re-cast within the existing dwelling. While considering the client’s brief of a two-bedroom, two-bathroom house, our design managed to reduce the overall footprint of the house and provide generous flowing living spaces with deep connection to the natural suburban landscape and the heritage of the existing hou
