Tudor Revival by Smiros & Smiros

Tudor Revival is a renovation 1920s residence by Smiros & Smiros located in Sea Cliff, New York. Description The renovation of this Tudor home demanded respect for its 1920s origins. We sought inspiration in architect Grosvenor Atterbury—who developed Pocantico Hills for the Rockefellers in the early 20th century—cleaning up the exterior with an eye toward authenticity. A symmetrically pitched roof replaced the entry’s catslide roof, which had cast the house in a storybook Thomas Kinkade mold. Slate tiles on the entire cross-gable roof, stonework and half-timbering impart a more elegant demeanor. We gutted and reconfigured interiors, deploying higher levels of finish on architectural details while discreetly incorporating period-sensitive neo-Gothic door openings, shiplap paneling and wood-framed windows painted black to resemble steel. Monopoli House by Fabrizio Pugliese

Monopoli House is an inspiring single-story house located in San Vicente, Argentina, recently designed by Fabrizio Pugliese . Description Casa Monopoli is located in a peri-urban area with the qualities of the Pampa region landscape (countryside-like, characterized by its grasslands), within the district of San Vicente, province of Buenos Aires. The project consists of the experience of articulating two systems: a handcrafted one and an industrialized one. The roof, handcrafted, is a reinforced ceramics structural system, and the loads detour towards the support points is highlighted by a reduction of the columns from 10 cm to 5 cm sidewise. The metallic system, industrialized, is defined by a structural grid that allows the organization of the program based on partition walls that configure the rooms within the modulation. The program is defined in two areas, public and private, separated by a flat roof and a patio that allows sunlight to enter from the north. The gap

Landscape House by Form / Kouichi Kimura Architects

Landscape House is an inspiring two-story residence located in Shiga, Japan, has been designed in 2021 by Form / Kouichi Kimura Architects . Description Located in a relatively spacious residential area, the house has been built with the client-run hair salon attached. There’s a park across the front road from the site. The area allows to closely view Mt. Ibuki, one of 100 famous Japanese mountains. In such conditions, I came up with the architecture that would bring out good living environment while laying out the volumes of the requested shop and of the residential part in an appropriate proportion. The building is composed of symmetrical volumes for which the proportion, openings, and materials have been carefully considered. The dynamic form creates a new façade in the streetscape. The first floor consists of the hair salon, residential entrance hall, and bathroom. LDK (living, dining and kitchen area) is laid out as well as bed rooms and children’s rooms on the se

Aesthetic Balance by Dofinteriors

Description The apartment with orientation on all 4 directions, was functionally divided on 2 floors, in the living area upstairs and the night area on the ground floor, these being treated differently and contrastingly on the floor to feel the transition between spaces both visually and physically. For the night area (consisting of 3 bedrooms, hobby room and 2 bathrooms) was chosen natural oak parquet for its warmth and beauty with which it develops over time, and for the living area (composed of living room, kitchen with dining and bathroom) the microcement, due to its versatility and the extra texture it brings, creating a unitary background with walls, which leaves the silhouettes of the pieces of furniture to be highlighted. The minimalism is suggested by the white walls and the feeling of warmth is given by the natural wood and the t
