Designed in 2018 by Jobe Corral Architects , this inspiring ranch house is located in Texas, United States. Description The design for a main house, guesthouse and fly tying studio is deeply connected to the land. Its protective form shields inhabitants from the Hill Country elements while expressing a strong sense of place. Two-foot thick rammed earth walls seem to spring from the land to form a protective outside layer of the C-shaped plan, an otherwise glassy and open structure. A lap pool, screened porch and extensive terrace reside in a courtyard facing the meadow below. Large, mature oak trees surround the building’s north and south edges, blocking both the strong southern and northern winds. Generous overhangs, steel trellises and wood screens protect the building further, filtering light when desired and shielding glare when needed. Description A new premier residence by Garret Cord Werner Architects & Interior designers is one with nature. A spine of water is the focal point of the home dividing public and private spaces with glazed interior bridges that connect the spaces. The waterway begins with a reflection pond, then transitions to a lap pool, and finally to an infinity spa overlooking private views of lake Washington. Exposed wood beam construction and highly detailed architecture make this home one of a kind. As with all projects by GCW, an inside-out philosophy unites the architecture, interiors and landscape and this is what creates such a tranquil and inviting atmosphere. Bangkok based firm, Alkhemist Architects , has transformed a generic gated-house into a sleek shelter of private, open, and calm atmosphere in an expatriate community on the outskirts of Bangkok. Description by Alkhemist Architects This modified and enlarged house sits at the end of a cul-de-sac inside Nichadatani, the largest gated community in Thailand. The initial room-arrangement of this 1980s 4-bedroom house were quite lack of clarity. The arrangement did not capitalize the large open green area locating on the east side of the house. Each area was partitioned and disconnected one program to another creating a quite claustrophobic atmosphere. In love with the sense of openness, but dissatisfy with the condition of the existing structure, the owners, who recently bought this plot, decided to seek for an alteration in order to meet their lifestyle. Designed in 2016 for a family of five by Studio David Thulstrup , this bespoke beach house is located just 15 minutes away from the center of Copenhagen, Denmark. Description by Studio David Thulstrup In late 2015, Heidi and Kasper Egelund bought a piece of land in the neighbourhood of Søvang, a part of the Danish city Dragør. But don’t let the quiet and leafy location of Søvang fool you; the property is conveniently located only a 15-minute drive away from the center of Copenhagen. On this seaside plot, they decided to build a bespoke beach house home for their family of five.
